Derwent Art Materials

Following my selection as a finalist for Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year, Derwent invited me to test their materials somewhere unforgiving: the Arctic Circle, where I was on an artist residency. I built a palette suited to the place itself, lightfast pencils and drawing pencils for the structure of the ice, metallic watercolours to catch the glint and shift of light across it, and the push button water brush, which let me paint en plein air without losing feeling in my fingers. The work became a set of reels and carousels made in partnership with Derwent Art Materials.
